If your BMW or Supra was built after June 2020, the ECU is locked at the factory. No flash tuning is possible until it's unlocked. FEMTO is the only proven solution worldwide to remove this restriction and enable tuning through MHD, MHD+, Bootmod3, MG Flasher, or any other OBD-based platform.
This isn't optional. If you want to tune a 2020+ vehicle, you need a FEMTO unlock first.
Why FEMTO Is Required
Starting in June 2020, BMW introduced an updated bootloader that blocks all OBD flash tuning. Traditional bench unlocks don't work on these ECUs. FEMTO is the only service that can remove the lock and restore full tuning access. Once unlocked, your DME works with any supported tuning platform, no additional unlocks needed.
How It Works

- Your DME ships directly to FEMTO via insured international express (2-3 days transit).
- FEMTO completes the unlock (24-48 hours).
- Your unlocked DME ships back to you (2-3 days return transit).
Total turnaround is approximately 7 days from start to finish.

Dual DME Vehicles
Some models use two DMEs, including the M5, M8, X5M, X6M, and XM. If your vehicle has dual DMEs, you'll need to purchase two unlocks, one for each ECU.

What is a FEMTO unlock?
A secure process performed by FEMTO that removes OEM lock on late-model BMW DMEs, allowing ECU tuning.
How do I know if I need it?
If your BMW/Supra was built June 2020 or later and you plan to tune it, you almost certainly need a FEMTO unlock. Provide your VIN at checkout if you’d like us to verify.
Do you support both single and dual DME cars?
Yes. Dual-DME vehicles require two services (one per DME).

Shipping Information
Orders take 24–48 hours to process once placed. Made-to-order items begin production after processing, while in-stock items are prepped, packaged, and ship within 3–4 days from our Oceanside, CA location (please allow extra time for packages to arrive during high-volume periods). Some items may be backordered—if so, we’ll email you with status and options. Freight items such as wheels, exhausts, trunks, and hoods require additional handling time and may ship separately.
